Ability to identify and evaluate technology resources and technical assistance (I.e., those available on-line and on-site within a school and district setting).
In a prior class, ED505, I complied a list of helpful websites based on topic and kept them in a social bookmarking site. The link for that site is https://delicious.com/p8_emily . I found that this assignment allowed me to employ a wonderful method for gathering information from a variety of online sources and store and refer back to the information as needed. Now that I am teaching, I feel as though any resource that can streamline the wealth of information found on the internet is a valuable resource. Technology can bring together those with similar interests, allow collaboration between individuals no matter the physical distance, and offer a plethora of information on virtually any subject matter. While the sheer volume of information can be overwhelming, it can also be hard to determine what is accurate and user-friendly for a classroom setting. The merits of the information found online need to be assessed in a fair and easy manner.
A rubric is a quick and standardized method to determine whether or not a particular website and it's content would be of value and use to my classroom. Attached in the space below is a such a rubric that also includes an example evaluation.
